Focus and Scope
JoSSE: Journal of Social Science Education is a peer-reviewed journal that aims to advance scholarly knowledge in the field of social science education across all levels of formal and non-formal education. It invites original research articles, theoretical papers, and critical reviews that explore educational practices, curriculum development, teaching strategies, citizenship education, digital literacy, civic engagement, and social justice issues within the context of social science disciplines such as sociology, history, geography, economics, and political science. JoSSE values interdisciplinary approaches that address the complex interplay between education and society in local, national, and global contexts.
JoSSE serves as an intellectual platform for researchers, educators, policymakers, and graduate students to exchange ideas and innovations that foster critical thinking, democratic values, and inclusive education. The journal is published twice a year—in March and September—by the Indonesian Association for Educational Research, to promote high-quality scholarship and foster dialogue in the realm of social science education. By encouraging diverse methodological perspectives and culturally relevant inquiry, JoSSE seeks to make a meaningful contribution to the development of critical and reflective educational communities around the world.
